I guess it is real!

The kids came home for Easter last night. I was a good Dad, and let them sleep until 9:00 AM. However, as soon as they got up I put them to work.

We had a 30 yard dumpster delivered Thursday. It is kind of amazing how much garbage you accumulate after 25 years in the same house. Well raising two kids certainly added to the accumulation.

Today I was able to fill about 40% of the dumpster with left over materials from our re-models, my woodworking, and other junk that for some reason my wife and I thought we would someday use. I took 5 truckloads of other items to a storage unit. Then after the first family dinner since Christmas. I relaxed my sore muscles in the hot tub.

One of the big challenges we are facing is deciding: What we move, What we store, What we try and sell, or What gets thrown away? We are moving into an apartment that is about 1/3 the size of our current home; so the decision of What we move is critical.

The view from the patio of our apartment in Zurich.

However, knowing that in about 5 months, I will be able to sit on my patio with a cup of espresso while looking over Lake Zurich helps to make the decisions a little easier.

Next week is going to be another busy one. It starts tomorrow when after an Easter Brunch I am taking the kids, and two other students back to Madison so they can finish out the semester. They other two don’t know it yet, but before I drive them south they have to help us get the treadmill to the garage, from the basement. That turned out to be a bigger job than my son and I could handle. Monday is a school board meeting, where I officially give my resignation to the district. (That will be a little sad by the way.) The rest of the week is filled with Realtor Visits, and more packing. The week will end on a bittersweet note.

I am an outdoorsman. Some of my favorite activities, are hunting, fishing and camping. Next weekend, is my Spring Turkey Hunting trip. I love hunting in the spring, but I am already sad knowing it will most likely be my last spring hunting trip for the next three years.
